The BNDES (National Bank for Economic and Social Development) announced for August 30, 2018 the auction for the sale of four regional companies belonging to Eletrobras. It is about:

  • Boa Vista Energia;
  • Amazonas Distribuidora de Energia;
  • Companhia de Eletricidade do Acre;
  • Centrais Elétricas de Rondônia.

The auction for the Companhia Energética de Alagoas (Ceal) was instead suspended by the Supremo Tribunal Federal, due to a judicial dispute between Eletrobras and the Government of the State of Alagoas.

The auction for the Companhia Energética do Piauí will be held on 26 July 2018, as established by the Government in June.

The starting value of the auction was determined in symbolic R $ 50,000.00 (about 15 thousand dollars) for each company; however, buyers will have to invest (in total) 2.4 billion reais (about 650 million dollars) for structural and technical improvements.

The winners of the auction will be defined according to the greater discount offered on energy distribution prices.
