temer-preso-Judge Marcelo Bretas, from Rio de Janeiro, issued this morning, March 21, 2019, an arrest warrant against former President of the Republic, Michel Temer.

The arrest takes place within the Lava-Jato operation, which investigates serious interference in tenders and bribery of managers of the Eletronuclear company (Eletrobras Group), responsible for the management of the Angra 3 nuclear power plant.

The arrest was motivated by the filing of José Antunes Sobrinho, owner of Engevix, who confessed to the payment of 1 million reais at the request of former Minister Moreira Franco (also arrested) and with Temer’s consent. The judge states, in the arrest warrant, that Temer “is the leader of the criminal organization responsible for the corruption” investigated.

Temer is being investigated in nine other inquiries, 4 of which began in the period in which he was President of the Republic (in which he enjoyed a privileged forum) and 5 started in 2019.
